Leaves Task

Kia Ora Guys!
This week we have been doing a leaf activity. We went around the school and collected leaves to write creative writing about. I did a song to the tune of: 'London Bridge Is Falling Down'. Mrs Fletcher read it out to the class. It was funny hearing something that I wrote. What I found hard was to think of the verses to make my own. I found it was easy to think of what creative thing I was going to do. I really enjoyed this task because we got to go outside, and I love the outside world. Next Wednesday, when Mrs Fletcher is back in, we will be doing a science experiment on why\how the leaves change colour.
Thanks, Georgia. Here is my work:

Leaves (tune to London Bridge Is Falling Down)
-------------------------------------------------------
The leaves on the trees are falling off
Falling off, falling off
The leaves on the trees are falling off
My fair lady

Pick them up and throw them away
Throw them away, throw them away
Pick them up and throw them away
My fair lady

But the leaves would just fall again
Fall again, fall again
But the leaves would just fall again
My fair lady

Have a leaf fight with your friends
With your friends, with your friends
Have a leaf fight with your friends
My fair lady

But the leaves will get stuck in your hair
In your hair, in your hair
But the leaves will get stuck in your hair
My fair lady

Oh, just have some fun
Have some fun, have some fun
Oh, just have some fun
My fair lady

But then mum called out, come inside
Come inside, come inside
But then mum called out, come inside
My fair lady

No more fun for us
For us, for us
No more fun for us
Now that we’re inside

Earthquakes Task

Kia ora!
Recently we have been doing earthquake tasks for literacy. I chose to do the reporter task. Part one was to add in information about my chosen earthquake. Part two was to film you reporting the earthquake. We had some trouble with the movie, so we couldn't put it in. What I found hard was to make the lighting in the green screen room right, and to have no see through things in the movie. What was easy was to find the green screen images for the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake. The learning behind this task was to learn about certain earthquakes and for me, how to use the green screen. I really liked this task because it was fun and challenging, and I always love a challenge.

Myth Writing

Kia Ora Everyone!
For the past few weeks we have been doing myth writing. We had to choose a natural phenomenon and make a myth about why we have them or how they happen. The learning behind  this task was to learn how to describe things specifically and to learn the structure of a myth. What I enjoyed was actually writing the myth. It was really fun. Only because it was a myth and you can add almost anything into a myth. What I found tricky was to think of what phenomenon I was going to do because I had so many ideas. What I have learnt from this is to describe certain things properly. Next time I would probably write less and do my paragraphs better.
Bye, blog you later!
This is my work:

Why We Have Avalanches
On a cold snowy mountain top, stood a skier. It was exactly 10am. The exact time snow falls. Snow came from the snow cloud filled sky. Trees were frozen with icicles hanging from their bare branches. The ski prints that were planted on the mountain faded away as more snow fell. The snow was piling higher.  “Here I go!!!!!” were the loud and rumbling words that came from the masked skier.

Faster than lightning the masked skier raced down the ski slope. The chair lift came closer and closer into sight. People in yellow vests became visible. Splish! The Masked Skier came to a stop, sending snow everywhere. People were drowned in snow.

The next day, the ski slope was closed because an avalanche was due. “Pah!” said The Masked Skier “It is a big snowfall today. I wanna ski!” He thundered. He tread through the ropes that had been put up to block of the ski slope. The chairlifts weren’t going so The Masked Skier had to walk up the mountain instead.

Meanwhile underground…
“Today is my time to shine” explained the Underground God, Nepulus. “I will make an avalanche!” Nepulus always had a big feast going. Only because he was very vain and thought he was boss of the world. Nepulus was a very evil god that
captured the sky goddesses and made them his slaves.

Upperland…
The Masked Skier was clipping on his skis when he felt a whole bunch of cold and icy snow fall on top of him. “Stupid snow” muttered the masked skier. More snow fell. The Masked Skier regretting going up the mountain now, but it was to late. He had his skies on and had to go down the mountain.
His skies were making tracks down the hill side. The snow started to crack, the snow fell. The Masked Skier was swept away by icy whiteness. Nepulus was having his avalanche party down under the Earth’s surface.

Bang! The Masked Skier hit something hard. Suddenly, he felt an arm grab him. He was out of the snow and in front of a fire. Why am I in front of a fire? Thought The Masked Skier. “Hello, I’m Philip. Who are you?” asked a suspicious voice. the masked skier was startled to hear a voice as no one should have been around as the ski slope was shut. “I, I’m Chris, Chris Pickle” replied the masked skier.

“What happened?” Asked Chris. “Nepulus made an avalanche” said Philip. Chris had gotten used to this person now. Just not the place. It was a wooden cabin. Probably Philips house. It had only a bathroom. No other room was in sight. The only lights were 7 candles and the fire. “Who is Nepulus?” wondered Chris. “Nepulus is the underground god. Twice every winter he holds a dance party and it makes an avalanche. Only here because he lives right under this mountain in the winter” explained Philip. “Oh” said Chris

“Does he make the earthquakes as well?” Chris asked curiously. “Yes, yes he does. He moves around and bangs against the crust of the earth. That is how we have earthquakes.” Chris was nodding his head up and down.
Suddenly, it all made sense…
